Christ’s Universal Church & the Local Church

When people accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, they become members of Christ's universal spiritual body, the Church (I Corinthians 1:9). However, God does not intend for believers to grow in isolation but to identify with a local body of believers (Hebrews 10:25).

While we do not require formal membership for a believer to participate in our ministries or communion, we do encourage it. We view this identification not as mere formality, but as a partnership relationship involving a commitment to the purpose (see Who We Are), people, and ministries of this church.

Membership Pre-requisites

Any person who:

  • confesses faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior,

  • submits his or her life in obedience to the Word of God,

  • agrees with our Statement of Faith (Creed) (see Article II of our Constitution),

  • commits to the purpose of this church (see Article III), and

  • desires to participate in the worship, fellowship and ministries of this church

shall be eligible for membership. While baptism is not required for membership, we strongly encourage those seeking membership to follow the Lord through believers’ baptism by immersion, since it is a biblical commandment that each believer needs to take seriously.
